Ministry supports R & D projects in thrust areas of wind energy sector including offshore wind energy, potential assessment, forecasting and scheduling, material development, cost reduction technologies etc, as per the Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme. Initially the R & D activities are undertaken by NIWE which is the technical arm of the Ministry for wind energy technology related activities with support from the Ministry.
