Inspiring story of Smt. Poonam Devi Associated with ASHA
In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, 20 women have gained financial independence by becoming EV Entrepreneurs through SMV’s Vahini programme. One of them is Poonam Didi, an ASHA worker. She purchased an e-rickshaw with her family’s savings. The rickshaw’s design is well adapted for women and the driver’s safety is supported through features such as cloud-based cameras and a smartphone, which make her feel safe to drive at night.
All women EV entrepreneurs, known as Vahinis, are trained in driving skills and traffic rules before hand-over of the EVs.
