The campus of the Centre for its R&D activities is located at the 19th milestone on the Gurgaon-Faridabad road which is about 25 km south of main office of the Ministry. The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural and beautiful green or yellow fields can be seen around the Campus depending upon the season. The main approach to the Campus passes through the Arawalis, which are considered to be the oldest mountain range in India. Covering an area of about 81 hectares, the campus receives abundant sunshine for experimenting with the energy from the sun. The buildings of the Centre have been constructed using solar passive techniques to achieve energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.

The campus offers the following state-of-art facilities -


The Solar Energy Center has excellent conferencing facilities, meeting various requirements under one roof. Solar electricity provides the power back up in case of power failures



An air conditioned hall in theatrical style which can accommodate 125 persons. It is provided with a dais and a public address system, multimedia projection system with good acoustics. Registration desk and arrangements for tea & snacks are available in the adjacent lobby.



Seminar Hall






An air conditioned hall that provides facility for round table conferences, group discussions, seminars and work shops with a seating capacity of 40 persons.





Committee Room





An air conditioned room with a round table suitable for meetings and group discussions accommodating up to 15 persons.






Solar Energy Center has a fully furnished central library consisting of about 1500 latest books on various aspects of renewable energy technologies. SEC subscribes to 15 scientific journals.

SEC Cafeteria


The Cafeteria at SEC provides both vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu. It includes spacious air-conditioned hall for serving food to conference / seminar participants.




The Guest House is a multi level, partially buried solar building. It consists of six well furnished rooms of which four rooms are air conditioned. The guest house has a neatly laid AC dining hall. The facilities available in the lobby include a cable TV, a computer with internet connection, news papers, magazines and a few indoor games.A photovoltaic power plant of 4 KW capacity is being installed on the terrace of the Guest House to ensure uninterrupted power supply in addition to the diesel generator back up. Bed Tea/coffee, Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available on demand from SEC Cafeteria. Laundry services are provided on demand.
